General questions

Insource.ICT finds IT jobs for IT people…

If you’re looking for a contract IT job, you probably have loads of questions that you’d like to ask us. We’ve tried to answer as many of the ‘Frequently Asked’ questions as possible. If you can’t find an answer to your question here, please contact us directly.

Q: What type of contract will I work under?
You will be contracted as an Independent Contractor and will sign an Independent Contractual Agreement. This agreement sets out the project deliverables, how you will be remunerated and other information. The relationship between yourself and Insource.ICT will not be that of employee/employer.

Q: What is the duration of my contract?
The duration of the contract is based on project deliverables. Our client monitors these deliverables very closely and will inform both you and us when the project has been successfully completed. Contract durations are seldom based on specific dates as project life cycles vary.

Q: How does Insource.ICT Contracting manage my tax?
We contract with you as an individual, not as an entity. As such, SARS expects us to deduct tax off your remuneration and pay it over to them. We register you on a “3616 code” enabling you to claim back any expenses at financial year end.

Q: How will I be paid?
You will be paid once a month, on agreed ‘worked’ timeframes, no later than the last working day of the month. Your monthly payment will include payment for the final week of the previous month and for three weeks of the current month.

Q: What will my hourly rate be?
Rates are agreed upfront and are included, in writing, in the Independent Contractual Agreement. Your rate will depend on the specific project and your skill set.

Q: How long after submitting my application can I expect to hear from you?
We try to get back to you within 48 hours.

Q: Will my performance be reviewed?
Yes. This is important as our client needs feedback in order to maintain agreed deliverables. The performance review is also an opportunity for you to identify areas that need growth and development.

Q: Is it true that I am not allowed to work for the company that you place me on contract with after the contract has ended?
Yes. As we introduced you to the client, and as we derive income through this, we ask you to inform us should any clients approach you after projects have been completed.

Q: How does the timesheet system work?
Although you are an Independent Contractor, we will still need accurate, signed timesheets from you. You’ll need to ask our client to counter sign the timesheet so that the hours are verified. Timesheets will be supplied to you.

Q: How do I resign from my contact?
As you are an Independent Contractor, the usual “notice periods” do not apply. However, as you are a highly skilled individual, responsible for certain deliverables on a contract, your Independent Contractual Agreement will state an agreed “notice” period.

Q: Are there any specific documents you might require from me?

We will give you a contract and other necessary documentation at the start of the project. You will need to sign all of these documents and return them to us immediately. We’ll also need a copy of your I.D. so we have your correct details. This helps us to easily transfer funds into your bank account.
